Security Systems
90% of police believe alarms deter burglary attempts.
- STAT Resources, Inc., Boston, MA
There was a time when a home security system was
regarded as a luxury only the rich would need or could
afford. But today, there is a home security system for
any household, lifestyle, and budget.
Designing Your System
Standard's security systems are designed with your
specific needs in mind. Our experts do a thorough
walk-through and evaluation of your home or property
in order to recommend the security system that works
best for you.
Standard Security Systems installs equipment manufactured
by Honeywell, the largest and most innovative manufacturer
of security equipment in the industry. Honeywell
equipment is highly reliable, easy-to-use, state-of-the-art,
and UL certified. Standard Security Systems offers
both hardwired and wireless system components to accommodate
the construction of your home, as well as additional
needs.
Burglary
One burglary is committed every 13 seconds. -
FBI Uniform Crime Report
The fear that someone will invade your home and steal
your possessions is very real. Worse still is
the fear that you or someone you love will be forced
to confront a potentially dangerous criminal caught
in the act.
Standard Security Systems suggests that you tailor your
alarm system to your specific needs. We suggest
you consider:
- A sensor for every door.
- Sensors for vulnerable windows, especially those
that may provide easy access
- Motion detectors as a secondary line of defense
covering any stairway leading to the master bedroom
or in the main hallway protecting access to the master
bedroom
- A powerful interior siren to scare off burglars
and alert occupants of a possible intrusion
Additional equipment options:
- Glass break detectors
- Barrier bars for basement windows
- Vented window sensors or alarmed window screens
to protect you while you're home
- Wireless key fob activation
- Hardwired and wireless panic buttons
- Outdoor sirens
- Outdoor motion sensors
- Strobe lights
- Voice sirens
Fire Detection
There is a home fire death in the United States
almost every three hours. - National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA)
Over one-third of homes have
battery-operated smoke alarms that do not work.
Why do smoke alarms fail? Most often because batteries
are missing, dead, or have been disconnected.
With monitored, hardwired smoke detectors, you'll never
run the risk of becoming a victim because of dead batteries.
In the event of a fire, a panicked child or adult, especially
one suffering from lack of oxygen, may not have the
presence of mind, the time, or the ability to call the
fire department. Monitored smoke and fire detection
systems alert monitoring personnel who contact the fire
department directly, saving vital time that could also
save lives.
Because a monitored
smoke detection system is ALWAYS ON it can:
- Relay an emergency signal to the central station
and ultimately to the fire department
- Sound an interior siren that can be heard most
anywhere in the home in addition to the 85-decibel
siren built into the smoke detector itself
- Work whether you are at home or away
- Work if you are injured or incapacitated
We Recommend:
- A minimum of one smoke detector on each level of
the house including the basement.
- Preferred NFPA code is one smoke detector on each
level of the house and one in each bedroom.
Environmental Detection:
Carbon monoxide is the number one cause of accidental
poisoning deaths. - Journal of the American Medical
Association (JAMA)
Security systems can also protect your home and family
against various environmental hazards
Carbon Monoxide Detection Systems
Carbon Monoxide (CO) is known as the silent killer
because it is free of color, odor, taste, and sound.
If dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are present in
your home, you may not know it. The flu-like symptoms
of CO poisoning (including severe headache, dizziness,
mental confusion, nausea, or faintness) are debilitating
and can be chronic or deadly.
You can protect your health and the health of your
family by installing a monitored Carbon Monoxide Detector.
If high levels of CO are detected, an audible alarm
sounds and the central station is notified and dispatches
the proper authorities.
Low Temperature Detection
A Low Temperature Sensor sends a silent alarm to
the central station when a sensor detects that the temperature
has fallen below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Low temperature
sensors installed in every zone within a home can detect
virtually all heating system failures. Although not
an early warning system (your home will get cold), low
temperature sensors will help prevent serious damage
due to frozen pipes - whether you are home or away.
Water Detection
A Water Detector sends a silent signal to the central
station when a sensor detects the first traces of water.
Water sensing probes are typically placed by basement
sump pumps, water heaters and washing machines. It is
recommended that a trusted keyholder be included on
your emergency contact list to turn off the water main
should an event occur while the home is unoccupied.
We Recommend:
- At least one carbon monoxide detector, located
near the sleeping area. If there are multiple sleeping
areas, especially on different floors, a CO detector
should be placed in each area.
- CO detectors should be strongly considered for
homes in which one or more residents is over the age
of 65. The risk of unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning
increases with age.
- A Low Temperature Sensor to safeguard against frozen
pipes for homeowners who are absent from their homes
during the winter's coldest months.
- A Water Detector to provide early notification
of a water leak to reduce damage and loss.
Medical Emergency
Every year over 320,000 seniors suffer a fall
at home to which emergency personal respond to and document.
- JAMA
There are 35 million Americans over the age of 65.
It's estimated that over one-third of those seniors
live alone. With approximately 10 million seniors suffering
some sort of fall each year, personal security truly
becomes a matter of life or death.
Standard Security Systems offers waterproof, worry-free
convenience in a portable wireless panic device that
can be worn on a detachable chain or attached to a key
ring. Connected to your monitored alarm system, the
wearer simply presses the extra-large soft touch button
to summon help. The signal is then transmitted to the
central station and immediately relayed to the appropriate
authorities.
